This year, Central Alabama Pride is celebrating 48 years of Pride in the Magic City! The Pride Parade and Pridefest are back in full swing this year and we hope you’ll make plans to join us. The Parade will step off at 8:00pm (or dark – whichever comes first) on Saturday, June 13 and will travel down 7th Ave S. beginning at the intersection of 32nd St. S and ending in front of Our Place. Everyone must be checked in and ready to go by 7:00pm; but you are invited to come early (check in will begin around 4:00pm), get a wristband, and head to dinner nearby before returning to be in place at 7:00pm. We encourage you to wear your Open For Y’all and God is Love t-shirts and bring a bag of candy to share with parade watchers!
This year, we will be ordering pizza ahead of time to enjoy with our group before the parade begins. If you and your family would like to eat pizza (limit of 2 slices per person), please SIGN UP by June 7 as we will need to have an accurate headcount. Pizza will be provided at 5:00pm the day of the parade, so it is recommended to arrive early to eat with plenty of time before the parade begins.
Don’t feel up for walking the parade? We understand! We acknowledge that some folks may not be willing or able to walk the entire parade route with us. This year, we will have First Church volunteers stationed on the parade route to encourage anyone who would like to gather with church family at the parade and cheer on the participants.
