Student Ministry

Learn, Grow, and Serve.

We are called to lovingly walk with each student throughout their journey and continually remind them that they are loved.

At First Church, we believe you belong before you ever walk in our doors. Our Student Ministry believes in providing a safe and inclusive community for students to grow spiritually, to feel love, and to discover who God created them to become in the world.

Community

We are a blended group of 6th-12th graders who live all over the surrounding area. We currently attend over 30 different schools, including being homeschooled. We are activists, allies, athletes, artists, environmentalists, gamers, leaders, LGBTQ+, musicians, and so much more. Everyone is welcome and has a place within our community.

Learn

We gather weekly to learn about the character of God, looking at the example of Jesus through scripture, learning about others throughout history who reflect God’s love and justice, and dive deeper into scripture’s context. We strive to help students ask questions in a loving environment, reminding them that knowledge is not the basis of God’s love.

Grow

Each student is in a different place in their journey. We intentionally create space for students to wrestle with tough questions ensuring them that they are loved despite their doubts. We also help students discover their passions and gifts by exploring a wide range of opportunities for growth and discovery including: Confirmation, service trips, camps and retreats, connecting students with community partners, listening to their vision for the church, and mentoring and challenging them on their faith journey.

Serve

Serving is a way we invite students to faithfully reflect the love we believe God has for all the world. We serve within our church, using our passions and talents to help build the Kingdom of God, and within our community. We regularly support our community partners through supply drives, clean up projects, participating in their programs, and finding ways to bridge our community and church. We also believe that participating in justice is a way we faithfully live out our understanding of God’s love for the world.
