You are invited to join us for our 2027 Churchwide Retreat! We will be returning to Camp McDowell Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 14, 2027.
This year our theme Awake My Soul: Finding Our Way in a Divided World will encourage us to explore the life and wisdom of the mystics. Julian of Norwich is famous for saying “all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well” even though she lived in an age of change and suffering similar to the world in which we live today. The mystics courageously demonstrated ways to live faithfully even amidst a world driven by power, suffering, inequality, and division. We will consider what we can learn from the writings and examples of the mystics as we seek to counter those divisions with humility, healing, inclusion, and unity. By seeking a faithful third way, the mystics show us a way to live more fully and whole-heartedly even when times are hard.
In addition to study, we will build connection and friendship through play, singing, and sharing meals together. The cost for the retreat is $235 for individuals, $435 for couples, and $460 for families. Families in need of an extra room can reserve one for an additional $100. All registrations must be paid in full by February 1, 2027. For questions about registration or scholarship opportunities, email Katie@firstchurchbhm.com. A deposit of $50 is due upon registration.
